Umesh Chandra Biswas
I am a PhD candidate in Computer Science at Mississippi State University, working under the supervision of Dr. Maxwell Young. I completed my MSc at the same institute with distinction. My research focuses on the design and analysis of distributed algorithms that provide strong theoretical guarantees for security, scalability, and efficiency. More broadly, I work on topics such as randomized and backoff algorithms and probabilistic techniques, including the Chernoff Bound. Recently, I have also developed an interest in applying AI to enhance security.
In addition to research, I am actively involved in community engagement at my university. I served as Vice President of the Graduate Student Association (GSA), where we organized various events for graduate students and hosted the Graduate Research Symposium each fall and spring semester.
My long-term goal is to contribute to the theoretical foundations of distributed systems and security, while leveraging AI techniques to strengthen these areas. To achieve this, I am actively seeking a postdoctoral or assistant professor position.
Prior to my Ph.D., I gained over 4 years of industry experience in Dhaka, Bangladesh, including 3 years in the telecommunications sector and 1 year in the software industry.
